This included 18 months of orthopaedic oncology rotations at the Princess Alexandra Hospital; extensive training in orthopaedic trauma (upper and lower limb) at the PAH and RBWH hospitals, both major trauma centres; and primary and revision arthroplasty training at QEII Hospital, designated an Orthopaedic Centre of Excellence for Arthroplasty by Queensland Health.

He worked exclusively in the Bone Tumour and Joint Reconstruction Unit, gaining unique experience and expertise in the evaluation and surgical management of bone and soft tissue sarcomas, both adult and paediatric. This included experience with “non-invasive growing” and “joint preservation” technology for use in paediatric and young adult tumour reconstruction. Dr Shooter also trained extensively in revision arthroplasty and cartilage transplantation, and other surgical managements of arthritis.
